MOBILE – IMMOBILE, a photographic documentation through my eyes.

Mobile phones have become an addiction, bane and boon. They have shrunk our world into a small screen and at the same time enlarged the window to the world. It has become difficult to imagine our lives without our phones. Being the fastest mode of communication, mobile phones have made it easier for people to connect with their loved ones far away.It is a camera for some and television for others, a few relate to it as their best companion and many do their work and earn their livelihood through this gadget. A stress buster for many, it has become a necessary evil.

In this pandemic through these clicks, I have documented how people in every walk of their lives are engrossed on their mobiles. They are unaware of their surroundings, multitasking with their necks bent and hands occupied. This is an addiction which has engulfed us all. I confess to be guilty of the same. It will not be an exaggeration to call the mobile a pandemic of the sorts and it will take much of a conscious effort to wean off.

I am sure many of you will relate to waking up in the morning with alarm ringing on your mobiles and then picking up your phones- the first thing in the morning. Surfing till late in night on mobiles is another dangerous trend. I have heard terms like ‘Mobile Detox’ and cringed. In today’s day and age, our relationship with our phones has superseded our relations with humans.

These pictures are compositions of subjects and mood reflection chosen impromptu and candid, people unaware of my capturing these moments when they were engrossed on their phones.

Mobile or immobile – food for thought
