ART WORKSHOP TO COMMEMORATE 151 BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MAHATMA GANDHI

Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi inaugurated a two-day art workshop on 5th October 2020 at Lalit Kala Akademi Regional Centre Garhi, East of Kailash, New Delhi to commemorate the concluding of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Chairman, Lalit Kala Akademi Dr Uttam Pacharne, inaugurated the workshop along with esteemed guests Shri Dattatrey Apte, and Shri Amitava Bhowmick. Secretary (I/c), Lalit Kala Akademi Shri Ramakrishna Vedala, Senior Artist Jyant Gajera, officers/staff of LKA and artist and art lovers were also present on this occasion. Chairman welcomed the participating artists by presenting flower bouquets to them.  Addressing the gathering Dr. Uttam Pacharne said “After COVID-19 pandemic first time we are organising this programme physically.  More than 75 working Artists and research Scholars are participating in this workshop.  I hope that artists will bring out the Principles, values and ideals of Bapu on canvas. Garhi Regional Centre is a temple of Art; Artists are giving important contribution in the field of Art.  I congratulate and thank all participating artists of this workshop.  Artworks created in this workshop will be a true tribute to Bapu.  Since the last two years, we have been organising various programmes on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The artists also discussed about the reconstruction of the studios of the Akademi, on which we will try to work in the coming time.”

Shri Dattatrey Apte observed that this is a good initiative by Lalit Kala Akademi and this should be continued in future.  Shri Amitava Bhowmick stated that Akademi is fulfilling its objective of Art Promotion.  Art & artists are a part of civilization. I hope that Akademi will organise such programmes in future. Akademi Headquarter and all its Regional Centre are organising lectures, camps, workshops and exhibition etc. to commemorate the concluding of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi throughout the month of October.
